Weinstein Legal Partner and Criminal Defense Attorney Matt Shafran recently participated on a panel for FAU Honors College Road to Law School.
In this video, Matt talks about planning ahead for life after college and the importance of always looking ahead in future careers.
MATT SHAFRAN: You have to always think a couple steps ahead, okay. I was fortunate enough to kind of know what I wanted to do at a young age.
Since I was in high school, I always was interested in law - I was interested in criminal law. So part of it was mainly cause my parents forced me to watch Law and Order and all these legal shows... and so my drive was to become a prosecutor and then a criminal defense attorney.
So I think you always have to think ahead as to what you... what interests you, ok. It could be environmental law, it could be personal injury law, you know, helping those that are injured, it could be criminal law. And try to narrow whatever you are doing outside of school to those experiences, right.
So I think - think of... envision five, ten steps ahead when you're in law school. When you get out of law school, where do you want to be and what do you want to actually practice in, and try to tailor whatever else you're doing to those things.
